Biography

Tony Llewellyn is a specialist in interpersonal dynamics and the effectiveness of project teams.  Originally training as a surveyor, he has spent over thirty years working on major projects. As a partner in construction specialist Davis Langdon, he was responsible for the consulting and specialist services division of the firm. 

In 2011, Tony resigned as a director of AECOM to pursue an interest in leadership development and coaching project teams. He is a strong exponent of the need for teams to understand the complexity and to spend time planning how behaviors that will allow the team to work through periods of change and pressure.

Tony has developed a team coaching methodology based on his research into the overlapping fields of team performance, interpersonal dynamics, and sector-based work practices. This methodology, based around the concepts of alignment, engagement, and team resilience, is then adapted to suit the particular needs of a project team at various stages of the project cycle. 

In recent years, he has been working with clients, contractors, and their supply chain to build effective integrated teams working on major infrastructure projects.

Tony is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster where he runs a master’s module on Developing Effective Project Teams. He is also a guest lecturer at Middlesex University.

Publications

Tony enjoys making a contribution as a thought leader. He has written three books on the topic of team coaching: Performance Coaching on Complex Projects, (2015), The Team Coaching Toolkit (2017), and Big Teams (2020). Tony is also a regular contributor to various industry publications including HR Director, Project magazine, PM World Journal, and Construction News.

Biography
