Biography

Michael Bungay Stanier has a gift for finding practical (and best-selling) simplicity on the other side of complexity. He makes core ideas practical and accessible for everyday people using humor, metaphor, and a commitment to write books that help people be a force for change.

MBS has sold over a million copies of his books, and The Coaching Habit was a Wall Street Journal best-seller. He has been featured on ABC, BBC, CBC, TED.com, Seth Godin’s blog, Tim Ferris’s blog, Brené Brown’s Instagram, the Harvard Business Review, Psychology Today, and innumerable podcasts. In 2019 he was named no.1 Thought Leader in Coaching.

He founded Box of Crayons – a learning and development company that helps organizations move from advice-driven to curiosity-led. They have trained more than half a million people, and their clients have included Microsoft, Salesforce, TELUS and Gucci.

In various roles before Box of Crayons he published an academic article on James Joyce and a Harlequin Romance-esque short story; played small roles in helping invent Pizza Hut’s Stuffed Crust pizza and a whisky now reviewed as “one of the worst single-malt whiskies in existence”; and wrote in 20 minutes what has remained GSK’s global vision for more than 20 years.

Michael is Australian, was a Rhodes Scholar, and now lives in Toronto, Canada.

We all aspire to be outstanding, compassionate, insightful coaches that our clients respect – no, adore. Coaches that our colleagues admire. Coaches that change people’s lives.

Sometimes we hit those peaks. Sometimes, we fall a little short.

This provocative and intimate workshop will help you uncover the subtle (and maybe not-so-subtle) ways you collude against your own greatness.

Expect self-reflection, interaction, and insights that will be powerful both for you and those you work with.

  1. How to articulate your ambition for who you are as a coach
  2. Insight into the barriers to that ambition
  3. Strategies for overcoming those barriers
