Lori Shook is a pioneer in the coaching world: she jumped into the budding field of coaching in the mid-1990s, earned the designation of Master Certified Coach by 2001, and has been coaching leaders and training coaches for over 20 years.
Lori was a driving force for the expansion of coaching around the world as she helped implement coaching across North America, throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and into corporations.
She significantly contributed to the creation of quality, scalable programs and training excellence for three different coach training schools: The Coaches Training Institute (CTI), Performance Consultants International (PCI), and CRR Global – the provider of ORSC™ systems coaching. She has also served as the Director of Training for CoachWise in Poland. She has worked alongside pioneers in the coaching world, including Laura Whitworth, Tim Gallwey, and Sir John Whitmore.
Lori is a master of programme design and delivery. While her design abilities are highly appreciated, her talent for training coaches is even more highly prized: she combines a pragmatic approach to personal development with a deep knowledge of how and why coaching skills are effective.
Her depth of understanding, along with her sense of lightness and ease, enables her to provide coaches with uplifting, fun, and transformative learning experiences.
Lori is passionate about developing both new and experienced coaches, supporting them to do their own personal development work and stay committed to the transformative aspect of coaching. She says, “as coaches, we need to keep ourselves fresh and awake so that we can serve our clients well”. To this end, Lori has contributed to numerous coaching communities where she has provided personal development opportunities through workshops and free webinars.
Consistent with her applied science degrees and experiences, Lori found it natural to apply neuroscience to the world of coaching and personal development and was one of the first to integrate neuroscience into coach training and leadership development training.
She supports coaches to include aspects of neuroscience in their coaching and equips them with the skills and tools that help them take their clients – especially more analytical clients – on transformational journeys.
Quick fixes feel satisfying to both the coach and the client. However, they might short-change the client in the long term. The key lies in helping them re-craft their internal world so they can have more choice in their external world.
In this demonstration, you’ll see how to coach a client in finding new approaches to their chosen outcome by way of internal changes rather than quick wins, helping them to achieve long-term, lasting results.
As teams learn about each other’s preferences, they learn to work better together. More importantly, the sharing process itself becomes a bonding experience, creating an opportunity for vulnerability, connection, and seeing each other’s common humanity.
In this team coaching demonstration, you will see a team on a personal and interpersonal journey, identifying and sharing personal attributes and preferences, helping them increase trust in each other and in the team as a whole.
If a client is stuck in a cycle of complaining, they can feel frustrated or victimised. If they are only clear about what they don’t want, they can feel lost or helpless.
In this coaching demonstration, you’ll see a client who wants something to change but can’t find a way to move forward. You’ll learn how to coach the 3 essential options for clients in this mindset: change the situation, change yourself, or leave.
