If you do a search on the qualities or characteristics of leadership, you’ll find a dizzying array of different ideas that contribute to being a leader. While some of these lists have elements that complement, other lists contain elements that seem contradictory or conflicting.

They can’t all be wrong and they can’t all be right. How do we make sense of it?

In this session we will be introducing The Leadership A-Type Cycle as a framework for exploring the spellbinding idea of “characters and seasons of leadership”. Importantly, this gives the coach a fantastic way to recognize and develop leadership as an exhilarating living dynamic rather than a static shopping list of qualities. This can help reinforce agility and guide the coach to avoid an approach to developing their client that is too generic or bland.

  1. Reveal a variety of unforgettable leadership “styles” and their “seasons”.
  2. Create question formulas to assess the leadership needs of the team, division, or organisation.
  3. Guidelines for coaches to avoid developing leaders into a ‘one trick pony’.
