EMCC Reflective Questions

Answer Questions

We are all aware of the benefits of positivity…or are we? You may be surprised to learn that there are some dangers involved with positivity as well. How can you, as a coach, apply positivity in the most positive way?

In this session, you’ll explore how the science of positivity should and should not inform coaching. You’ll also gain insight into the qualities that distinguish Positive Psychology Coaching (PPC) from other forms of coaching.

  1. Clients enjoy working on positive topics but there is also a danger in the temptation to “make clients more positive”.
  2. The most sophisticated positive psychology coaching looks just like coaching. The positive psychology is often invisible to clients and does not include prescribed positive interventions.
  3. Positive psychology coaches heavily weight science as a way of knowing. As such, they are particularly open to modifying practice as new information emerges.
