Course Overview
The Imposter Syndrome Coach Practitioner course features a unique combination of live interactive learning sessions, coaching demos, and practice delivered within 11 weeks. With a total of 10 live sessions, this course is designed to equip you with the specialized tools, techniques, and frameworks needed to support clients who struggle with Imposter Syndrome.
In this module, coaches will learn to conduct comprehensive assessments for Imposter Syndrome (IS) using tools like the Family Genogram Technique. Participants will explore key signs, early family dynamics, and client exercises to identify and understand the development of IS. The module delves into how IS correlates with anxiety, depression, and burnout, impacting professional outcomes and mental health. Additionally, coaches will assess the socio-cultural aspects of IS, including gender differences and the double impact, enabling them to tailor personalized interventions for diverse populations based on the latest research.
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this module, coaches will learn how to help clients understand and interrupt their Imposter Syndrome (IS) cycles. Using key techniques, such as the "Statement of Position Map" and "Autobiography Technique," coaches will guide clients to identify triggers and reframe their narratives. Participants will explore how thin narratives fuel IS, and how to help clients develop thicker, more empowering ones. The module covers recognizing triggers, including those specific to marginalized groups, and how to introduce various tools to foster deeper self-awareness and future-oriented thinking.
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this 90-minute session, coaches will participate in role-playing exercises designed to enhance their ability to manage resistance and guide clients in reshaping their Imposter Syndrome (IS) narratives. The session focuses on two key activities:
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this module, coaches will learn how to help clients uncover "hidden accomplishments" and broaden their understanding of strengths beyond traditional categories like math and language. By using tools like Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, coaches will guide clients to a more expansive view of their abilities. Participants will explore the role of Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) in reinforcing Imposter Syndrome and learn how to use an ANT log to help clients build rational responses to triggers. Coaches will also challenge the theme of "hiding" in imposter syndrome, helping clients confront maladaptive beliefs and reduce feelings of shame.
Key Learning Takeaways:
This module equips coaches to recognize and assess burnout in clients using key measures and identifying contributing factors. Coaches will learn strategies for burnout recovery and prevention, including promoting role clarity, setting boundaries, and managing perfectionism. Emphasis is placed on self-care as a structured foundation, using tools like the "Schedule of Pleasant Events" and microhabits to embed sustainable self-care. The module also covers burnout symptoms, the importance of task and time management, and the use of mindfulness to help clients regain balance and prevent future burnout.
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this 90-minute session, coaches will engage in a hands-on, triad-based role-playing exercise focused on identifying and challenging Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs). Using real-life case studies, participants will work through the four-step process of classifying and disputing common ANTs like mindreading, catastrophizing, and discounting positives. Coaches will practice applying this method with clients, using techniques such as "Labeling Your ANTs" and "Challenging ANT Questions" to create more rational, positive thought patterns. This session will give coaches practical experience in silencing their clients' inner critics and reshaping negative self-talk into empowering beliefs.
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this module, coaches will explore the five common rigid roles that individuals with Imposter Syndrome often adopt, and learn how to guide clients toward more flexible, growth-oriented roles. Participants will teach clients to conduct cost-benefit analyses of their current roles and coach them in experimenting with new roles in low-stakes environments, gradually progressing to higher-stakes situations. The module also provides strategies for overcoming common blocks to role experimentation, helping clients break free from limiting beliefs rooted in childhood and professional experiences.
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this module, coaches will guide clients in developing a supportive team tailored to their roles and help clients identify the qualities they seek in mentors to effectively combat Imposter Syndrome and challenge its hallmark traits. The module emphasizes fostering vulnerability and reciprocity in relationships while also equipping coaches with skills to help clients navigate ruptures and provide constructive feedback to team members. Coaches will support clients in embodying these roles for others, promoting a sense of community that understands and addresses Imposter Syndrome.
Key Learning Takeaways:
This session focuses on using Coping Cards as a practical tool for sustaining client progress and reinforcing strategies to combat imposter syndrome. As a part of this session, participants will engage in role-playing to simulate real coaching scenarios. Coaches will guide clients through the creation of personalized Coping Cards, each tailored to capture essential tools and insights gained from the coaching engagement.
Key Learning Takeaways:
In this final Integration Session, participants will synthesize and reflect on their learnings from the entire course, revisiting key insights from each of the six modules. This session provides a holistic overview, allowing participants to see how the components of each module fit together as a cohesive 3Cs framework they can confidently apply in their practice. This session also serves as an open forum for participants to ask any remaining questions, gain additional implementation tips, and explore best practices for integrating these concepts into their own coaching work.
