Does Coaching Replace
The Manager?

No. During coaching, the coach may suggest that time be scheduled with the manager and that the person being coached discuss situations or issues as they arise. Coaching is designed to increase and improve communication between managers and direct reports. We strongly recommend that clients ask for input regarding goals and focus areas from his or her manager at the start of coaching and keep the manager informed about progress. Specific structures can easily be put in place to ensure this happens.
