What Does a Coach Not Do?

A coach does not consult or counsel, unless specifically asked to do so, and only with clear agreements.

Consulting occurs when a person with specific expertise shares that expertise with individuals or organizations. Coaching is focused on drawing the expertise and answers from the client.

Counseling affects healing and understanding. Counseling seeks to resolve problems and generally focuses on the past and how it impacts the present. Coaching affects achievement and action. Coaching promotes creativity and is focused on the future.
